My heart has been so sad this week as I listened to the heart wrenching reports on the news of so many who have taken their lives and the lives of their families. Overwhelmed with feelings of hopelessness and desperate for answers to the huge problems they were facing, these people couldn't grasp the truth that God was their provision even in the midst of horrible storms.So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, "Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?" 1 Kings 17:10 (NIV)
In a nation that was required by law to care for its prophets, it is ironic that God turned to ravens (unclean birds) and a widow (a foreigner from Jezebel's home territory) to care for Elijah. God has help where we least expect it. He provides for us in ways that go beyond our narrow definitions or expectations. No matter how bitter our trials or how seemingly hopeless our situation, we should look for God's caring touch. We may find his providence in some strange places!
When we pray"Give us our daily bread", we are acknowledging that God is our sustainer and provider. It is a misconception to think that we provide for our needs ourselves. We must trust God daily to provide what he knows we need.
I thank God today for His provision in my life. When situations look absolutely bleak I am thankful that my God is still on the throne. Where would we be without His provisions?

Even though all around us in our nation, our economy and even the present leadership our country is under - it seems bleak and hopeless... however, God is STILL in control and He has not left us. His provision is all around us but sometimes we just need to open our eyes to see it. Great TT post this week. -Laurie
ReplyDeleteoh how so right he will make provisions for his faithful followers we once went to a dare to share program standing around the end of times and taking a stand for him whatever the deed is that we do we will always be taken care of by him is that not just so wonderful to know I count on this blessing every day
