Roadside Assistance

Vacation was great but now it is time to reprogram the mind. So much to do to prepare for Sunday. The music schedule needs to be put together for worship and I need to study my Sunday School lesson. Heart to Hearts Gals women's ministries is hosting a Luau next Friday evening so next week will be consumed with final details for the event. And then of course there is my work waiting for me at the District Office. I have been checking email daily and trying to keep up with anything I could resolve from afar but there isn't anyone who assumes my responsibilities while I am away. So....... welcome back to real life!

It has been hot this week and I noticed there were lots of vehicles stranded by the side of the road between Virginia and Missouri. Some had flat tires, overheated engines or simply ran out of gas. There were signs posted all along the highways with instructions for ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I don't think there is anything worse than being stranded in an unfamiliar area with no one to call upon for help.

Many times we find ourselves in that same place spiritually. We become stranded on the highway of life lonely and no where to turn. We have a choice to make when we find ourselves in that place. Do we search within ourselves for the answers or do we call upon the ONE who has ALL the answers?

I lift my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip, he who watches over you will not slumber;indeed , he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord will keep you from all harm, he will watch over your life (Psalm 121: 1-4; 7).

So you see, even when the enemy comes pounding at our doors fully equipped with his garbage, Jesus will take care of him when we make the choice to place our trust in the Lord. When depression sets in, our God will fill our minds with encouragement. When loneliness overwhelms our being, our God will pour His love into our hearts. He never sleeps. He is always watching over you and I.

I am thankful today for my roadside assistance provided by my Jesus in this hectic and stressful life. God is so awesome. He continues to bless us abundantly and His way far exceeds our plans. Thank you Lord for your protection, provision and love. I pray that I will always demonstrate the willingness to allow YOU to assist me when making decisions and choices.

Blessings and hugs to you today!

  1. I'll be thinking about you and praying for you as you "re-enter" normal life again! Vacation is always so much fun...but the the reality of "real life" hits.

Lord, give Deborah YOUR strength as you looks at all that needs to be completed for Sunday. Be her encourager, her calm, and her aid. You are walking with her each step as you finishes her prep work; help her to rest in you knowing that everything will flow perfectly.

You are such a blessing to me friend.

  2. I'm glad you had such a wonderful vacation. We were actually within miles of each other at some points. I live south of Springfield.

As you move back into non-vacation mode I hope you are blessed with mental flashbacks of special vacation moments for weeks to come.

In a few weeks I will be headed in your direction to visit my Navy son in Norfolk. As with every trip, I will feel protected by the roadside assistance that only our Lord can provide, as He does every day of life's journey.

Thank you for such an uplifting blog to visit.

  3. I am in agreement with you, Deborah. I receive the abundant blessings and protection Jesus, has for us made a way for us to enjoy, and I too thank Him for it. I also am in complete agreement with you when you say:

I pray that I will always demonstrate the willingness to allow YOU to assist me when making decisions and choices.

I pray order and peace for you this week as you reprogram your mind and reorder your work, ministry and home this week. Have a great week, Deborah!
