Distracted In the Busyness of Life

Remember the story about Mary and Martha?  It was all about busyness and what can happen in our lives in the midst of all the craziness if we are not focused.  This past month has been crazy!  I feel like the hamster on her exercise wheel running as hard as she can possibly go but getting absolutely nowhere!!!  Can anyone relate? lol

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself?" Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed." Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." Luke 10:38-41 (NIV)

In the busyness of life it is so easy to be distracted from the things of God. I truly believe busyness is a powerful tool of the enemy. What a better time to be totally focused on God than when we are in the midst of extremely busy times in our lives. That certainly is a time when we seriously need to rely upon the strength of the Lord for energy and wisdom. With a zillion things on our plates, God can bring peace and clarity to our minds when things seem a bit overwhelming.

I encourage you today to remain focused on the things of God even in the midst of life's craziness.  Allow Him to speak into your life as you attempt to navigate through hectic and demanding schedules. Even though we are busy, as Christians, we have the ability to allow others to see the joy of the Lord in our lives even when life is chaotic.

Blessings!
